Moroccan Mosaic Tiles

Also known as zellige tiles, these are the most common and most famous kind of Moroccan tiles. The Moorish way of making mosaic tiles was largely influenced by the Frumuseni Mosaics of the Byzantines over one thousand years ago. Moroccan mosaic tile patterns have very unique characteristics, most commonly consisting of complex geometrical and/or floral shapes. The most well known Moroccan mosaic tile works feature complex Arabesque designs, such as the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain.
